‘Substance’ is a three-channel moving image work with a custom-made soundtrack created by Martyn Riley that explores the financial centres in London: Canary Wharf and The City of London juxtaposed with a performative act of flexing muscles.
The project aims to embrace the moving image’s inherent complexities, uncertainties, and possibilities while offering a critical perspective on the relationship between society and the neoliberal capital model during an unprecedented economic crisis.
The realisation of the project was generously supported by the Developing Your Creative Practice award by Arts Council England.
