‘5 Sunrises, 7 Sunsets’
5 SUNRISES, 7 SUNSETS is a two-channel moving image work with a unique custom-made soundscape realized in Egypt’s Sinai, Luxor, and Aswan.
This project pays homage to light as an invisible medium that reveals the knowable world, emphasizing human vision as a natural phenomenon. It delves into the concept of reflection and the ‘subversive value’ of ‘immediate reality’ that we can access through our eyes or the camera, a tool designed to emulate human sight.
Over the past decade, I have embarked on exploring how the presence of light shapes the human perception of the surrounding world, how we assign significance to spatiotemporal realities, and how vision, a natural phenomenon, is transformed into visuality as a construct. This project is a culmination of my research and artistic exploration.
